Description
Brunello di Montalcino "PS" ris 2019 DOCG Pelagrilli Siro Pacenti
The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Siro Pacenti Riserva 2019 is an extraordinary expression of Sangiovese in purity, born from one of the best vintages in the recent history of Montalcino. It comes from one and a half hectares of the oldest vine parcels that are over fifty years old, in a harvest of rare intensity. The uncompromising selection, the double hand-picking, the fermentation in steel, and the 24 months in small French oak barrels converge towards a single goal: to express the utmost complexity and structure of this great terroir.
Territory and wine style
The 2019 vintage is considered one of the most substantial in the recent history of Montalcino: complex, structured, with a concentration resulting from excellent seasonal conditions and perfect tannic maturity. This wine is at one of those moments when a great Brunello shows for the first time what it has in store while also indicating that not everything has fully come together yet. Those with less patience can open it now. Those who are prudent should wait.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby red color, almost no rim dissolution. On the nose, morello cherry, balsam, cedar wood, dried herbs, and spices – dense, concentrated, still closed. The taste is powerful and precise at the same time: fine and firm tannins, an electrifyingly lively acidity, a finish that layers and stretches and never ends. This wine is just at the beginning of its journey. Those who drink it today will find it evolving; those who wait will experience what Montalcino produces from its oldest vines in one of its best vintages.
Minty herbs blend with exotic spices, tobacco, and crushed ash stones. It is soft and youthfully lean, with tart berries and a hint of acidic citrus flowing over a stream of refreshing acidity. The finish is structured and incredibly long, with a pleasantly tart concentration of red berries that tickles the cheeks. The Riserva 2019 has much more energy and vigor than usual. It will be fascinating to see it mature over time.
