Rare Wines

Rare Wines is the collection dedicated to the most sought-after bottles by those who love wine as an experience, memory, and collectible value. In this selection, you will find iconic labels, great vintages, important formats, and limited editions that tell the best of Italian and international winemaking, with a strong presence of prestigious and recognizable names.

A selection designed for collectors and enthusiasts

Rare wines are not just bottles to open on a special occasion: they often represent a wine heritage to be preserved, tasted with care, or included in a private cellar. The collection includes references of great charm such as Antinori, Ornellaia, Quintarelli, Biondi Santi, and Donnafugata, alongside many other reference wineries.

Among the protagonists of the selection are wines from single bottles, magnums, jeroboams, and wooden boxes, as well as historic cuvées and special edition versions. It is an ideal proposal for those looking for labels that can combine prestige, territorial identity, and real rarity, from Tuscany to Piedmont, from Veneto to Friuli Venezia Giulia, up to Sicily, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Campania.

Territories, denominations, and style

This collection enhances some of the most iconic territories of Italian wine: Bolgheri, Brunello di Montalcino, Barolo, Amarone, Taurasi, Etna, and many other areas that have built their reputation thanks to precision, longevity, and the ability to stand out over time. Labels often feature grape varieties and blends that have marked the history of contemporary wine, such as Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay, and the great Tuscan red blends.

The presence of selected vintages, Riserva, Superiore, DOCG, DOC, and IGT makes the page particularly useful for those who wish to navigate between wines for emotional investment, collection, or service during important moments. Rarity, in this context, is not just about quantity: it is also about stylistic coherence, the reputation of the producer, and the wine's ability to evolve elegantly.

When to choose a rare wine

Rare wines are perfect for celebrations, representative gifts, vertical tastings, and moments when you want to open a bottle that is out of the ordinary. They pair well with structured and long-cooked dishes, red meats, game, aged cheeses, and, in the case of high-end sparkling wines, also with great convivial occasions or refined gastronomic service.

  • to enrich a private cellar with iconic labels;
  • to choose wines for aging and meditative tasting;
  • to find large formats and special versions;
  • to gift a bottle that has authentic meaning.

If you are looking for bottles that can tell a story of territory, history, and prestige, this selection of Rare Wines is the ideal starting point to discover memorable labels and build a truly distinctive collection.

FAQs

What is meant by rare wines?
Rare wines are difficult-to-find bottles, often associated with great vintages, limited productions, special formats, or highly prestigious labels. In a collection like this, there are both true collectible wines and bottles intended for aging or important occasions. Rarity can depend on the producer, the territory, the type, or the particular presentation, such as magnum, jeroboam, or wooden case. These are wines chosen for those seeking uniqueness, identity, and oenological value.
Which territories are represented in the Rare Wines collection?
The Vini Rari collection enhances some of the most prestigious areas of Italian wine, with a significant presence from Tuscany, Piedmont, Veneto, Sicily, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Campania. Among the most recognizable denominations and regions are Bolgheri, Brunello di Montalcino, Barolo, Amarone, Taurasi, and Etna. This variety makes the selection interesting both for those who love great Italian reds and for those seeking high-profile sparkling wines and whites, always with a strong territorial connection.
How to choose a rare wine to buy online?
To choose a rare wine, it is advisable to start from three elements: the producer, the vintage, and the format. Labels signed by reference wineries such as Antinori, Ornellaia, Quintarelli, or Biondi Santi are often highly sought after, but denomination and style also matter a lot. If the wine is intended for the cellar, it may be useful to focus on big structured reds or important formats; if, on the other hand, it is meant as a gift or for a special tasting, presentation, prestige, and recognizability of the label also count.
