The Guardiense

La Guardiense tells the story of one of the most representative cooperative realities of Campania, capable of uniting significant numbers, territorial identity, and a modern vision of viticulture. This selection gathers wines from Sannio and Guardia Sanframondi that clearly express the character of Falanghina, Aglianico, Piedirosso, and the sparkling versions crafted by the winery.

A winery symbol of the Benevento Sannio

Founded in 1960 by 33 members, La Guardiense is now a highly significant agricultural cooperative, with about a thousand members and over 1,500 hectares of vineyards cultivated on hills, at about 350 meters above sea level. An extensive and well-rooted viticultural heritage that gives rise to grapes destined for authentic and recognizable interpretations of the Sannio DOC, Sannio DOP, and Guardia Sanframondi DOP denominations.

The winery has managed to evolve while maintaining a strong connection to local tradition, investing in technology and practices attentive to environmental sustainability, also thanks to the use of renewable energy from photovoltaic systems. This balance between roots and innovation is reflected in the wines present in the collection, which range from the freshest and most immediate expressions to the more structured reserves.

FAQs

What wines can be found in the La Guardiense collection?
The La Guardiense collection brings together some of the most representative labels of the winery, with particular attention to Falanghina, Aglianico, Piedirosso, and sparkling versions. Among the wines present are, for example, Senete 2021 Falanghina del Sannio DOP, Falanghina Janare 'Anima Lavica' La Guardiense 2021 Sannio DOC, Quid Falanghina Spumante Brut, and various expressions of Aglianico, including reserves and versions linked to Guardia Sanframondi. It is a selection designed for those seeking territorial wines that are coherent and easily recognizable in style.
What style do the wines of La Guardiense have?
The wines of La Guardiense clearly express the profile of the Sannio Beneventano: fresh and savory whites, reds with greater structure and personality, and sparkling wines that enhance the winery's vocation for bubbles. Falanghina tends to offer immediacy, drinkability, and a clear territorial identity, while Aglianico and Piedirosso bring depth, intensity, and a more pronounced character to the glass. The presence of reserves and different vintages allows for a choice between more ready wines and more evolved interpretations.
What dishes to pair with La Guardiense wines?
The selection La Guardiense lends itself to many pairings of Italian and Campanian cuisine. The Falanghine are ideal with seafood appetizers, light first courses, vegetables, and fresh cheeses; the sparkling versions pair well with aperitifs and fried foods. The Aglianico, even in the Riserva versions, go well with red meats, roasts, braised dishes, and flavorful traditional dishes. The Piedirosso is versatile with rustic preparations, cured meats, and medium-structured second courses. It is a collection useful for both everyday consumption and more refined occasions.
