IDDA Gaja & Graci: the excellence of Etna signed by Gaja

IDDA is the project born from the collaboration between the Gaja family, a symbol of Italian winemaking excellence, and the Sicilian winery Graci, one of the most authoritative interpreters of the Etna territory. The name "IDDA," which in Sicilian dialect means "She", is how the locals refer to Etna, the volcano that dominates the landscape and profoundly influences every vineyard. This partnership combines the international experience of the Gaja family with the deep knowledge of the territory developed by Graci, giving life to wines that authentically tell the unique character of the south-western slope of Etna.

The vineyards are mainly located in the municipalities of Belpasso and Biancavilla, at altitudes between 600 and 800 meters, on volcanic soils rich in minerals. Here, the elegant Etna Rosso DOC and Etna Bianco DOC are born, wines that express precision, freshness, and an extraordinary territorial identity.

The philosophy of the IDDA winery

The IDDA project was created with the aim of enhancing one of the most fascinating terroirs in the global wine landscape. The cultivation of the vineyards follows an environmentally respectful approach that honors the natural characteristics of the territory, while in the winery, every intervention is aimed at preserving the identity of the fruit and the extraordinary expressiveness of the volcanic soils.

The balance between tradition and innovation represents the heart of the production philosophy: essential vinifications, calibrated aging, and maximum attention to quality allow for the creation of elegant, long-lived wines that remain true to their origin.

The style of IDDA wines

The IDDA Gaja & Graci wines stand out for their aromatic finesse, mineral tension, and great balance. The Etna Rosso, primarily made from Nerello Mascalese with a small percentage of Nerello Cappuccio, offers aromas of small red fruits, citrus, Mediterranean herbs, graphite, and spices, supported by elegant tannins and vibrant freshness.

The Etna Bianco, mainly produced from Carricante, expresses the purity of the grape variety through notes of citrus, white flowers, flint, and a marked salinity that accompanies its long mineral finish.

  • Grapes: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Carricante.
  • Territory: south-western slope of Etna, on high-altitude volcanic soils.
  • Style: elegant, mineral, fresh, and territorial.
  • Evolving potential: excellent aging capacity, especially for the best vintages of Etna Rosso.

Food pairings

IDDA wines elegantly accompany numerous preparations of Mediterranean cuisine. The Etna Bianco is ideal with seafood, shellfish, baked fish, delicate first courses, and fresh cheeses. The Etna Rosso pairs perfectly with white meats, lamb, mushrooms, tuna-based dishes, traditional Sicilian cuisine, and medium-aged cheeses, thanks to its refined structure and pronounced mineral component.

Why choose IDDA Gaja & Graci

Choosing IDDA means discovering one of the most authoritative interpretations of the Etna territory. The collaboration between Gaja and Graci has given rise to wines that combine technical precision, elegance, and authenticity, enhancing one of the most fascinating terroirs in Italy.
