Description

Ferro 2021 I.G.T. Toscana Petit Verdot Collazzi

Ferro 2021 by Collazzi is a pure Tuscan red wine made from Petit Verdot, designed to best express the personality of a grape variety often used in blends but here as the absolute star. The wine's identity comes from a rigorous selection in the vineyard and a long aging process, which complete its structure and enhance its aromatic profile.

Territory and wine style

This I.G.T. Toscana comes from a vineyard of about one hectare at the Tenuta Collazzi, in an area facing Florence and characterized by a warmer and drier microclimate compared to the surrounding regions. The clay-limestone soil, rich in skeleton, promotes vegetative containment and supports a complete ripening of the grapes. Manual harvesting in small crates and careful selection of the bunches help define a precise style, rich and of great intensity.

Tasting notes

In the glass, Ferro 2021 presents an intense and bold color, with purple reflections. The bouquet combines marasca, hints of sherry, and orange blossom, with a balsamic finish that recalls eucalyptus and touches of cocoa and ripe green pepper. On the palate, it is imposing yet harmonious, enveloping and velvety, with a well-constructed balance between richness, aromatic freshness, and a dense, elegant, and well-integrated tannic structure. The finish is long, deep, and very persistent.

Recommended pairings

Thanks to its structure and aromatic complexity, Ferro 2021 pairs well with important red meats, braised dishes, roasts, game, and flavorful preparations of Tuscan cuisine. It is also ideal with grilled fillet, oven-roasted beef cuts, and aged cheeses. Its elegance makes it suitable for rich dishes that are not overly spicy, capable of dialoguing with the tannic part and the long persistence of the wine.

Serving temperature

To best appreciate Ferro 2021, the ideal temperature is between 16 and 18°C. If possible, it is helpful to open the bottle a little in advance to encourage the evolution of the aromas; in more formal settings, a brief decanting can also be useful, especially in the early stages of opening.

Why buy it

Ferro 2021 I.G.T. Toscana Petit Verdot Collazzi is an interesting choice for those looking for an extraordinary Tuscan red, capable of uniting concentration, elegance, and personality. The work in the vineyard, the care in selection, and the long aging in new barriques contribute to a refined profile of great depth. It is a wine to purchase online when you want an important bottle, suitable for special dinners, tasting moments, and occasions where it matters to offer a red of strong character.
