Next to the Convento vineyard, there is another smaller one facing south: vineyard Brera, which testifies to the friendship between entrepreneur Vittorio Moretti, owner of Bellavista, and sports journalist Gianni Brera. The fruit of this vineyard is the wine “Zuanne”, a Merlot dedicated to Gianni Brera, who loved top-quality wines with excellent fruity aromas, but great softness and roundness. The grapes are harvested only at full ripeness, traditionally fermented in red, and aged in small barrels for over 16 months. After bottling, the Zuanne wine remains in the cellar for about 12 months.

A vineyard for Brera. “Winter 1990. On a dazzling December morning, we presented to the press, in the wonderful setting of the vineyard of the Convento della Ss. Annunciata, the first Franciacorta Bellavista Riserva Vittorio Moretti. Giovanni Brera, fascinated and amazed by the beauty of the sunlit places, wanted to explore them after the conference. On the terraces above the Convento, we found several Merlot vines. Father Sebastiano told us he had planted about 480 cuttings in May 1964. It was then that we decided to make a wine that would be “ours.” Ours and for a few friends. Thus, in a land of bubbles and great whites, we made for Giuàn a “négar” and called it “Zuanne,” Giovanni, in our local dialect from the 1600s. Even today it is as he wanted it: “beautiful, vigorous, and graceful.” I will continue to make this wine, but only in those vintages where the product will live up to the great name it carries.” Vittorio Moretti

The wine. Always, the particular vinification aims to best represent the Merlot grape not through the intrinsic organoleptic enhancement of the grape, but through the palate convictions of our friend Gianni, who loved top-quality wines with excellent fruity aromas, but great softness and roundness. We therefore proceeded by drastically reducing the production on the vine, harvesting the grapes only at full ripeness, traditionally fermenting in red, and prolonging the evolution in small barrels for over 16 months. After bottling, the Zuanne wine elevates in the cellar for about 12 months.
