Description

Ischia Rosso DOC Riserva Mario d'Ambra: a Campanian red of character and finesse

Ischia Rosso DOC Riserva Mario d'Ambra by Casa d'Ambra is a red wine from the island of Ischia that combines territorial identity, tradition, and a balanced style. Born from Per’ ‘e palummo and Guarnaccia in equal parts, it authentically interprets the most classic face of island red wine, with a pleasant drinkability, an essential aromatic profile, and a decisive yet harmonious taste structure.

Territory and wine style

Production takes place in Ischia, in the municipality of Forio, on volcanic soils of medium texture rich in potassium and phosphorus. This context, combined with an altitude of 150 meters above sea level, contributes to giving personality to the wine and highlighting its Mediterranean vocation. Manual harvesting, carried out in the first decade of October, and red vinification with whole grape maceration for 5-10 days define a careful style, faithful to the raw material and oriented towards balance. Aging for about 90 days in different oak essences and subsequent bottle maturation complete the journey with an elegant refinement.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it presents an intense ruby red, bright and consistent with the type. On the nose, winey-delicate sensations emerge, sober and clean, leaving room for an essential yet typical setup. On the palate, the attack is decisive, supported by a good softness that makes the sip smooth and pleasant. The structure is medium, with a measured tannic presence and a freshness that helps the overall balance. The finish is harmonious and confirms a direct, authentic, and territorial style.

Recommended pairings

Ischia Rosso DOC Riserva Mario d'Ambra easily pairs with dishes from Mediterranean and Campanian cuisine. It is ideal with white and red meats that are not overly elaborate, roasts, light braises, first courses with meat sauces, and rustic traditional preparations. Excellent also with aged or semi-aged cheeses and with second courses of intensely flavored vegetables, where its softness accompanies without overpowering.

Serving temperature

Serve Ischia Rosso DOC Riserva Mario d'Ambra at a temperature between 18 and 20°C. In general, it does not require long oxygenation, but a few minutes in the glass can enhance the expression of the aromatic profile and make the sip even more balanced.

Why buy it

This wine represents an interesting choice for those looking for an Italian red with a strong connection to the territory, capable of offering authenticity and pleasantness in a single bottle. Ischia Rosso DOC Riserva Mario d'Ambra enhances indigenous grape varieties, careful processing, and a versatile taste profile, suitable for both an informal dinner and a more refined table.
