Description
Guado al Tasso 2023 DOC Bolgheri Superiore Antinori
Guado al Tasso 2023 is a great red from Antinori that elegantly and deeply interprets the territory of Bolgheri. Born from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, it combines structure, complexity, and aromatic charm in a vintage version of strong personality. It’s a wine designed for those seeking an important experience, capable of combining power, precision, and a fine tannic texture.
Territory and wine style
The Bolgheri DOC Superiore designation expresses one of the most renowned areas of the Tuscan coast, where the climate and soils help define wines of great balance. In this label, the international character of Bordeaux grape varieties harmoniously fits into the Mediterranean profile of Bolgheri, giving rise to a rich, structured, and simultaneously refined red.
Serving temperature
To best express Guado al Tasso 2023, a serving temperature of 16-18°C is recommended. An early opening can be helpful to promote oxygenation and enhance the bouquet, especially in the early stages after opening.

Climate
The 2023 vintage in Bolgheri began with a rather mild winter and low precipitation, leading to a slight advance in bud break, which started from March 20. During spring, characterized by frequent rains, albeit of moderate intensity, careful vineyard work was necessary to preserve the health of the vines. July was generally warm and dry, positively slowing down the vegetative vigor of the vines, creating optimal conditions for veraison and the beginning of grape ripening. In August, temperatures were normal, while towards the end of the month, an Atlantic disturbance brought rain and coolness, ensuring favorable conditions for the continued ripening. The month of September, sunny and dry, allowed for full ripening in every vineyard parcel, with excellent quality levels. Harvest began with Merlot in early September, continued with Cabernet Franc between the beginning and middle of the month, and concluded with Cabernet Sauvignon at the end of September.
Winemaking
Upon arrival at the winery, grapes were selected in two distinct moments: before and after destemming, to ensure that only perfectly ripe berries reached the fermentation tanks. As with every harvest, the individual vineyard plots were divided into many small harvest parcels according to the climatic trend of the vintage, distinguishing them by grape characteristics and vinifying them separately. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for 18 - 25 days. After the racking operations, the wine was transferred directly into barriques, where, by the end of the year, malolactic fermentation took place. In February, the wines from the best vinified parcels were selected and blended. Guado al Tasso was then transferred into new French oak barriques, where it aged until bottling in July 2025.
Historical Data
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and sometimes a small amount of Petit Verdot, to represent the elegance, complexity, and structure of the Bolgheri terroir. Guado al Tasso has been produced since 1990 from vineyards located on alluvial soil, from clay-sandy to clay-loamy, with the presence of Bolgheri conglomerate (skeleton).
Tasting Notes
Guado al Tasso 2023 presents an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it shows great intensity through hints of plum, blackberry, and blackcurrant, which combine with sensations of tobacco, licorice wood, and in the finish, light notes of mint and blood orange. On the palate, it impresses with its dense and enveloping tannic texture and a mid-palate and finish of great depth and pleasantness. A vintage already enjoyable now and at the same time with a high aging potential.
