Description

Erse 2020 Etna Rosato DOC by Tenuta di Fessina

Erse 2020 Etna Rosato DOC is a Sicilian rosé with a refined and territorial profile, crafted by Tenuta di Fessina - Silvia Maestrelli. It is made from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, two emblematic varieties of Etna, and interprets with great balance a characterful, fresh, and deep rosé wine, capable of uniting immediacy and complexity.

Territory and wine style

The production takes place in Rovittello, on the northern slope of Etna, at about 700 meters above sea level, in a ventilated context conducive to slow ripening. The vineyard, planted in 2007, benefits from a northeast position that promotes freshness, aromatic integrity, and a pronounced mineral imprint. The October harvest and vinification in steel, with careful selection of the grapes and brief pre-maceration on the skins, contribute to defining a clear, elegant, and saline style, perfectly consistent with the identity of Etna Rosato DOC.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it presents a raspberry pink color, bright and delicate. The bouquet evokes dried flowers, sour cherries, pomegranate, and a hint of acacia honey, with accents that enhance the aromatic perception without sacrificing finesse. The sip is complex, fresh, and vibrant, supported by an intense acidic backbone well balanced by structure and breadth. The salinity is evident, the finish is mineral, and the long, persistent finale leaves a sensation of great cleanliness and verticality. It is a gastronomic rosé, of rare personality, capable of engaging with the territory from which it comes.

Recommended pairings

Erse 2020 Etna Rosato DOC pairs easily with flavorful seafood dishes, fish tartare, raw seafood, shellfish, seared tuna, and Mediterranean recipes based on vegetables. Its freshness and salty component also make it ideal with white meats, roasted poultry, fish couscous, delicate cured meats, and fresh cheeses. It is a wine that pairs well with fragrant, not overly fatty cuisine, and enhances preparations where aromaticity and taste tension are in balance.

Serving temperature

To best appreciate Erse 2020 Etna Rosato DOC, a serving temperature between 10 and 12 °C is recommended. It does not require long aeration but can benefit from a few minutes in the glass to fully express its aromatic profile and mineral texture.

Why buy it

This rosé is a compelling choice for those seeking an authentic, elegant, and versatile Etna wine, with a well-defined personality. The combination of altitude, volcanic soils, and native varieties gives Erse 2020 Etna Rosato DOC a distinctive profile, ideal for both a high-quality aperitif and the dining table. It is a wine that combines pleasure, precision, and territorial identity, with a limited production that underscores its artisanal value.
