Description
Champagne Blanc de rose 1er Cru Extra Brut Geoffroy
This Champagne Blanc de Rose, obtained through maceration, is unique in Champagne. Most rosé Champagnes containing Chardonnay are blends. Our rosé philosophy at Champagne René Geoffroy is to create a “rosé de saignée,” obtained through release. And this is what led us to create a “rosé de saignée” by macerating Pinot Noir and Chardonnay together in the same vat. Marrying the juice of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and keeping it in contact with the skins of both varieties reveals a harmony previously unknown, a great novelty in Champagne...
The Champagne Blanc de rose 1er Cru Extra Brut Geoffroy is a cuvée of great personality, designed to express a more airy and refined profile of rosé Champagne. Geoffroy's signature is recognized in an elegant, precise, and sincere style, capable of uniting aromatic delicacy, mineral tension, and pleasant gustatory depth. The very low dosage enhances the dry character and purity of the sip.
Territory and wine style
This Champagne is born from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with grapes coming from vineyards cultivated on clay-limestone soils with the presence of marls in depth for Pinot Noir and on very calcareous soils for Chardonnay. The average age of the vines, about 30 years, contributes to giving balance and complexity. The winemaking involves manual harvesting, careful selection of the bunches, cold maceration, and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation, while malolactic fermentation is avoided to preserve freshness and momentum. The result is a wine with a fine, tense, and gastronomic character, bearing the classic imprint of terroir Champagne.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it presents an elegant and luminous rosé color. The bouquet is delicate and seductive, with hints of rose petals, violet, and a touch of grenadine. On the palate, sensations of mandarin peel and pink grapefruit emerge, supported by a clear minerality and a pleasantly bitter finish, which extends the sip and enhances its freshness. The bubbles accompany a fine structure, more elegant than imposing, with a balance between tension, precision, and harmony.
Recommended pairings
The Champagne Blanc de rose 1er Cru Extra Brut Geoffroy pairs with great versatility with seafood appetizers, raw fish, tuna or salmon tartare, shellfish, and light vegetable-based preparations. It is also excellent with delicate cold cuts, refined white meats, and fresh or soft cheeses that are not too intense. Its freshness and slight bitter note make it ideal for delicate Asian cuisine and dishes with subtle flavors.
Serving temperature
Serve the Champagne Blanc de rose 1er Cru Extra Brut Geoffroy at a temperature between 8 and 10°C. In this range, it best expresses aromaticity, finesse of the perlage, and gustatory tension. It does not require decanting; simply open it gently and serve it in glasses suitable for enhancing its aromatic profile.
Why buy it
It is an ideal choice for those looking for an unusual, elegant, and modern Champagne rosé, yet always tied to tradition and territory. The combination of extra brut dosage, minerality, freshness, and floral and citrus notes makes it perfect for both a high-level aperitif and accompanying an important dinner. Buying it means bringing to the table a refined, expressive, and very pleasant wine to drink.
