Chardonnay

The Chardonnay selection from Italian Wine Selection gathers some of the most interesting interpretations of this great international grape variety in Italy and beyond, with bottles ranging from still whites to the most refined classic method. A grape variety capable of telling different territories

Chardonnay is loved for its ability to adapt to different soils and climates, always maintaining a recognizable profile. In Italy, it finds vertical and mineral expressions, or softer and more enveloping ones, depending on the production area and the style of the winery. The collection includes wines such as Cervaro della Sala from Antinori Castello della Sala, Rossj-Bass from Gaja, Chardonnay Monteriolo, I Sistri Chardonnay IGT Toscana, and Chardonnay Langhe Gaja e Rey, along with mountain labels and classic method sparkling wines of great finesse.

Between still wines and great bubbles

This collection is not only dedicated to still whites: Chardonnay is indeed one of the most important bases for numerous Italian and French sparkling wines included in the selection, such as Franciacorta, Trento DOC, and Champagne. Here you will find interpreters like Ferrari Perlé Bianco Riserva Trento DOC, Ferrari Riserva Lunelli 2016 Trento DOC Extra Brut, Franciacorta DOCG 2020 Contessa Maggi Montenisa, Franciacorta Docg Satèn, and SUBLIMIS Franciacorta Dosaggio Zero Millesimato Riserva. The presence of maisons and wineries such as Ferrari, Ca del Bosco, Berlucchi, and Ca' Marcanda - Gaja makes the selection particularly comprehensive.

How to choose the right Chardonnay

If you are looking for a Chardonnay for an aperitif or delicate appetizers, lean towards fresher and tighter versions; if you prefer more complex wines, choose labels aged in wood or reserves, capable of offering greater depth. The sparkling wines based on Chardonnay are ideal for those who desire elegant and gastronomic wines, perfect for the table as well. The collection also includes interpreters from Sicily, Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Valle d’Aosta, Lombardy, and Umbria, offering a complete journey through styles and denominations.

FAQs

What style of wines do I find in the Chardonnay collection?
In the Chardonnay collection, you will find both still wines and sparkling wines, all united by the presence of this grape variety or by blends in which it is the protagonist. The selection includes Italian interpretations from different regions, such as Trentino-Alto Adige, Tuscany, Piedmont, Sicily, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Aosta Valley, Umbria, and Lombardy, as well as labels from Franciacorta, Trento DOC, and Champagne. It is a collection designed for those seeking elegant whites, structured or more mineral, but also refined and gastronomic bubbles.
Is Chardonnay also suitable for those looking for significant bubbles?
Yes, Chardonnay is one of the most important grape varieties for the classic method and for many prestigious cuvées present in this selection. In the collection, you can find Franciacorta, Trento DOC, and Champagne, with labels such as Ferrari, Montenisa, Ca del Bosco, and other great interpretations. Its ability to bring finesse, balance, and complexity makes it ideal for sparkling wines suitable for both aperitifs and dining, especially with fish dishes, raw seafood, shellfish, and delicate preparations.
What dishes pair best with a Chardonnay?
Chardonnay is very versatile in pairing. The fresher versions go well with seafood appetizers, steamed fish, vegetables, and light first courses; the more structured ones or those aged in wood, on the other hand, accompany white meats, risottos, mushrooms, and soft cheeses. For this reason, the collection is suitable for those who want an elegant white wine that is also easily pairable at the table.
