Liguria wines for sale online at Italian Wine Selection
Liguria is a region that, despite its small size, has over a hundred wineries that have been attentive to by Enotourism experts. The quality and variety of wines are an undoubted plus, in addition to the decidedly characteristic and beautiful landscape, with vineyards overlooking the sea along the entire coastline. Among the best-known wine-growing areas are the Cinque Terre. The areas devoted to viticulture stretch from east to west along its 350 km of coastline. Starting from the Riviera di Levante, the first area of interest from the point of view of wine tourism are the Cinque Terre. They are named after the five localities overlooking the Ligurian Sea in the province of La Spezia. The landscape here is among the most striking to be seen, with vineyards planted on steep, steep slopes on terraces that slope down to the sea. The wines of the area are produced from the Bosco, Albarola and Vermentino vines, from which both dry white wines and the rare passito Sciacchetrà, made from raisin grapes of the same vines, are obtained. Moving westward, we find the DOC areas of Val Polcevera and the Gulf of Tigullio with their wines produced with Bianchetta Genovese, the name by which Albarola is locally known. The Riviera di Ponente, on the other hand, is more concerned with the production of red wines, vinified from the Rossese, Ormeasco (the local name for Dolcetto) and Ciliegiolo grape varieties. Rossese is the autochthonous protagonist.

Why choose wines from Liguria
The wines of Liguria go well with traditional Ligurian cuisine, typical dishes of a territory that at a culinary level presents characteristic combinations of both sea and land. Special mention for example for first courses such as Trenette al Pesto and Pansoti with walnut sauce, which pair well with a Riviera Ligure di Ponente Pigato. Moving on to main courses, Ligurian-style rabbit is exalted with a Ciliegiolo from the Gulf of Tigullio, while Cappon magro and Zimino di seppie are often associated with Vermentino Colli di Luni. Finally, as for dessert, the tasty Torta Pasqualina is served with Val Polcèvera Coronata and the Pandolce genovese pairs perfectly with the renowned Schiacchetrà from Cinque Terre.
