Tignanello
Tignanello for sale online at Italian Wine Selection
Tignanello wine was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties (such as Cabernet), and among the first red wines in Chianti Classico not to use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone in the wine industry. It is made from a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The Tignanello estate is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, on the rolling hills between the Greve and Pesa valleys, and covers 319 hectares of land, with approximately 130 hectares under vine. Its vineyards include two treasures: the Tignanello vineyard and the Solaia vineyard, which extend over the same hillside, on soils derived from Pliocene marine marl with limestone and schist, and enjoy warm days and cool nights during the growing season. The vineyards of the same name produce Solaia and Tignanello, which have been described by the international press as 'among the most influential wines in Italian wine history'. According to Marchesi Antinori, they represent an ongoing challenge and a never-ending passion. The vineyards of Tenuta Tignanello are mainly composed of the indigenous Sangiovese and non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. In the cellar of Italian Wine Selection you can find the best Tignanello and Solaia from the Marchesi Antinori winery.
