Brunello di Montalcino 2016 Le Macioche DOCG
Let's start with the 3.5 hectares planted to Brunello, concentrated in the Sant'Antimo area, southern quadrant of Montalcino, are the small but precious heritage of Le Macioche. One of the many micro-realities of the appellation, started by Matilde Zecca and Achille Mazzocchi in 1985, then passed into the hands of Riccardo Caliari, Stefano Brunetto and Massimo Bronzato and, since 2017, into the orbit of the possessions of the Famiglia Cotarella brand, the company founded by brothers Renzo and Riccardo Cotarella, led today by daughters Dominga, Marta and Enrica Cotarella.
The labels of the winery, which is located between Fattoria dei Barbi and Podere Salicutti, have built over time a clearly legible stylistic continuity, made up of an unmistakable overall levity, which even the latest change of ownership seems not to have undermined. An interpretative path of Brunello that is well in tune with the latest consumer trends and that also finds full correspondence with the territory of origin.
Here, then, is a Brunello di Montalcino with a beautiful aromatic expressiveness that offers the unmistakable citrus and balsamic traits of Le Macioche's production, crossing notes of fresh and candied orange with small smoky and spicy touches. In the mouth, the sip is pulpy, dense, articulated and not without acid freshness, which amplifies drinkability and savoriness. The finish is pleasantly warm and tight.
Characteristics
Brunello di Montalcino is a wine of ruby red color, tending to garnet with age, with an intense and persistent, characteristic aroma in which hints of underbrush, small fruits and composite jam can be recognized. The palate is dry with aromatic persistence, slightly tannic, warm and harmonious.
