LA TERRA
ZONE OF PRODUCTION: produced with grapes from the vineyards of the Cabreo Estates located on the hills of Panzano in Chianti Altitude: about 450 meters above sea level.
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay.
Planting density: 5,000 vines per hectare Production per hectare: an average of 7 t. of grapes.
Grape yield: about 60%.
IN THE CELLAR
Vinification: soft pressing and cold decanting for 24 hours. Partial alcoholic fermentation in toasted French oak barrels (50% new and 50% one-year old).
Maturation: 12 months in toasted oak barrels with "bâtonnage" Aging: minimum 6 months in bottle.
WINE
TASTING: Cheerful canary yellow color with greenish reflections, brilliant to crystal clear; exuberant aromas of exotic fruits to the harmonious elegance of acacia flower on the nose. Intense to powerful, highly characterized. Dry with great acidic balance, savory to saline, balanced to harmonious, full-bodied and persistent. Great tertiary capacity, able to mineralize like few white wines in the world.
First vintage: 1983.
Shelf life: up to 15 years.
Curiosity: La Pietra was one of the very first Italian whites to be aged in small woods of French origin.
