Our Bianco Superiore comes from a manual selection from centenary Carricante saplings in the iconic Contrada of the same name located in the municipality of Milo, where the unique climatic conditions, volcanic soil and the combination of altitude and the influence of the Ionian Sea guarantee verticality, sapidity and great ageing potential. Our Il Musmeci fermented in French oak and then aged 24 months in stainless steel followed by a further 12 months in the bottle. The nose is reminiscent of aniseed, wild fennel, wax, bread crust and candied lemon, this Cru stands out for its persistence and complexity, bringing back memories of the sea, but also the elegant and fresh notes of a great mountain wine

Soil composition: Milo, Contrada Caselle. Milo, on the eastern slope of Etna, is the home of the Carricante grape. Often lashed by heavy rains, it has the highest percentage of rainfall on the entire island. The soil composition is complex with extreme pedo-climatic conditions, which if skilfully supported are able to give wines unique in taste and longevity. The soil, formed by centuries of volcanic activity, has several layers of minerals and salts, pumice, lapilli, fine and light ash. This terroir, with its sub-acid reaction, is particularly fertile and capable of producing a very high total acidity. Here Carricante finds its pure and typical expression. The unique conditions allow grapes to be grown at incredibly high altitudes, with great potential for late ripening and ageing.
