Wine Characteristics.
Abbazia di Rosazzo is a dry white wine of DOCG designation , the result of a skillful blending of native and international varieties:
- Friulano: It brings structure, smoothness and regional typicality.
- Sauvignon Blanc: Gives aromaticity, freshness and herbaceous notes.
- Pinot Blanc: Contributes elegance, finesse and balanced acidity.
- Malvasia Istriana: Adds aromatic complexity and floral hints.
- Ribolla Gialla: Contributes vivacity, savoriness and a distinct minerality.
The grapes, harvested by hand in small boxes to preserve their integrity, are selected with meticulous care. Fermentation takes place in 25- and 50-hectoliter French oak barrels, followed by aging on the lees for about 18 months. Afterwards, the wine rests in bottle for an additional 10 months, developing extraordinary aromatic complexity and depth of flavor.
Sensory Notes
- Color: Brilliant golden yellow with bright highlights, a sign of maturity and concentration.
- Aroma: Intense and refined bouquet, with floral notes of broom, almond blossom and acacia. Fruity hints of white peach, Williams pear, apricot and citrus nuances of pink grapefruit and bergamot. Delicate nuances of aromatic herbs such as sage and thyme, and spicy hints of vanilla and toasted almond due to aging in wood complete the olfactory profile.
- Taste: The palate is enveloping, complex and balanced. The entry is soft and round, supported by a vibrant acidity that enhances its freshness. The minerality is pronounced, typical of the Rosazzo terroir, with a sapidity that lends depth and persistence. Fruity flavors intertwine with notes of acacia honey, hazelnut and a slight toastiness. The finish is long, elegant and harmonious, with an aftertaste that recalls the olfactory sensations.
